Heart and Hand, the official partners of Rangers have clarified the sell-on clause on Ajax defender Calvin Bassey amid Brighton links.

Should the Dutch side make a profit from the sale, Gers will be making a windfall from it otherwise there will be no money to be gained.

Brighton are believed to be keen on signing the Nigeria international just one season after he made a move to the then Eredivisie champions.

Via Twitter, Heart and Hand wrote, "On profit, so if it’s what they paid or less, no cash."

All on Brighton

Brighton are known to demand high money for their targets so it's only fair that they're quoted similar fees for when they want to buy players.

Ajax would not want to make a loss on a defender they only signed a year ago and still has a high sell-on value in the future.

Bassey is only 23 so he'll only get better in the future and he seems more suited to the British game so the Seagulls will be getting a quality addition.

It's fair to say that it's not worked out for him at Ajax and he would not mind returning to an English team as he was previously with Leicester City.

He's also a much-improved player since then so it makes sense for Brighton to pay slightly more to secure his services.

Rangers need every penny possible this summer and would certainly welcome the additional windfall from one of their former players.
