Crystal Palace loanee Jack Butland is likely to be the next addition through the Ibrox doors, with his Rangers transfer now all but complete, according to Scottish Daily Mail.

Butland, who spent the season on loan at Manchester United, is out of contract at Selhurst Park in June and is preparing for a move to the Scottish giants as his challenging year in English football comes to an end.

Michael Beale held talks with the former England international on Tuesday night (Daily Mail, 30 May) about a move to Ibrox as he looks for more regular first-team football.

And according to the Scottish Daily Mail newspaper [31 May, page 68], his transfer to Ibrox is all but complete and he is set to be Beale's next addition, after the completed deals of Kieran Dowell and Dujon Sterling.

Good move

This is a terrific move for both Rangers and Butland with the Gers desperate to add another quality goalkeeper to their ranks for next season, coupled with the 30-year-old's desire for more minutes.

It's safe to say Butland hasn't had the best of seasons at both Palace and Manchester United not even getting a sniff of first-team action. In fact, it's been a tough couple of years for the former highly-rated goalkeeper with injuries playing their unfortunate part.

Rangers

Rangers seem the perfect next step in his career as he will almost certainly be guaranteed a chance to impress, battling for the number one spot with Robby McCrorie between the Ibrox posts.

The delay in his move to Ibrox certainly makes sense given he wants to be fully focused on the final game of the season in Saturday's FA Cup final because it only takes one injury to David De Gea for him to be forced to play, and he will want to be prepared if it were to happen.

This is a terrific signing by Rangers and Beale, granting a new lease of life for a quality goalkeeper who is desperate to find his feet again. It's a potential match made in heaven.
