Michael Stewart blown away by Rangers transfer for Nicolas Raskin at Ibrox
Michael Stewart stated that Nicolas Raskin has been a standout for Rangers in an otherwise disappointing season, as shared by the Daily Record.
The Scottish football pundit added that he doesn’t believe anyone at Ibrox deserves to be in the running for the Player of the Season award, just days after James Tavernier and Malik Tillman were named in the PFA team of the year.
As well as Raskin, Todd Cantwell was named as another source of optimism moving forward, by Stewart.
He pinpointed question marks against other figures in Michael Beale’s squad, ahead of an expected significant clearout this summer.
“Todd Cantwell has caught the eye, but for me, Nicolas Raskin has really stood out,” he said.
“He’s not been there for that long, but the little bits I’ve seen of him I can see why they’ve brought him in.

“Ryan Jack is over 30, Glen Kamara has drifted a wee bit, and you need that freshness. He’s caught the eye and looks like a good bit of business.”
More to come
It’s not just Stewart who has been impressed by the Belgian. By all accounts, he has made a very decent start to his career in Glasgow but he needs to show that there is much more to come.
Raskin and Cantwell will benefit from their initial few months at Ibrox, as they aim to hit the ground running from the very outset of next season. Rightly, they are viewed as key players who Rangers will need to rely upon and the early signs are promising in that regard.
It is that type of success and bargaining that the club has to pursue in the transfer market over the coming months.
Free transfers, hidden gems as well as relative, big money buys will need to be combined in the overall rebuild that Beale will be responsible for. The margin for error is very small in contrast to the huge challenge that awaits Rangers in the coming season.
It will be a very busy summer at Ibrox.
In other Rangers news, another Ibrox attacker is said to be on his way out of the club as MLS sides make their move.
