Rangers transfer news as Fenerbahce want to sign Ryan Kent as Kenny Miller reacts

Turkish giants Fenerbahce want to sign Ryan Kent on a free transfer when his Rangers contract expires this summer, according to journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.

The English winger is set to leave Ibrox after five years at the end of the season, with Michael Beale hinting that they were unable to come to an agreement over a new deal recently.

Premier League clubs Burnley and Leeds have been linked regularly with taking him south of the border, but Fenerbahce have now emerged as an interested party too.

“Fenerbahce wants to add Ryan Kent, who plays for Rangers, to it’s squad,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (27 April).

“Ryan Kent; He received positive references for Turkey from Rıdvan Yılmaz and Kenny Miller,” he added in another tweet.

If Kent isn’t going to be staying at Ibrox, then almost everyone would have been expecting him to turn up in England with a Premier League side.

But by going to Turkey, which is arguably a lesser league than Scotland, Kent is showing that a move away from Rangers is about more than just returning home.

Whether it’s about money or not isn’t clear, but he won’t have a better chance of trophies in Turkey than he will in Scotland, and he most certainly won’t be as important a player in their squad.

However if Kent doesn’t want to be at the club then it’s best that he goes and Michael Beale can bring in players who want to be here and can contribute to us returning to the top of the game.

We’ll be in the Champions League next season if all goes to plan, and we’ll be competing for trophies again, whether Kent is part of the club or not.
