Ross Wilson exit could see Rangers lose Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent to Nottingham Forest

Rangers may have just solved a massive issue within the club after Ross Wilson joined Nottingham Forest but it could also have created some new problems.

Fans have been calling for change in the boardroom for a long time and were given a double boost when Douglas Park resigned as chairman, followed by an approach from the Premier League to take Wilson back down south.

But now with the season all but over barring the Scottish Cup semi-final clash with Celtic, plans and eyes are already on the new season and the summer transfer window.

A big part of those plans will be the futures of Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent, which have been spoken about to great length and with nobody really knowing what is going on right now in the public domain.

We don’t know if there is an agreement in place, we don’t know if there is a gap between the parties on demands, we don’t know what those demands are. But someone who does is Wilson.

He will know Rangers’ budget and top line for getting a deal done, or if they don’t want to, and will know what the players are trying to get on their end of any deal too.

Wilson has rocked up at Nottingham Forest and been given a lot of power to deal with their transfers, and after they signed over 25 players since being promoted to the Premier League it is clear that they have plenty of money to spend.

Their Premier League status is currently uncertain, but should they find a way to stay out of the Championship for next year then there is a big opportunity for Wilson to get one over his former club and bring in two big, free transfer signings.

Rangers simply can’t compete with the wealth and financial heavy-handedness of the Premier League clubs in England, and we won’t win a war if the deal simply comes down to finances.

The players will have a better chance of trophies and European football at Ibrox than anywhere else they go, and the will know that already. That won’t change between now and the end of the season.

But with Beale making it clear that he hopes Ryan Kent will stay at Rangers beyond the end of his current contract, plus his love for Morelos despite his poor form this season, it would be a huge dent in his plans and ambitions for the new season.

If Rangers didn’t already feel the need for some urgency with these situations and decisions among their playing staff then they must now.

Wilson could be set to launch an attack to strip Ibrox of our best talents with his pursestrings loosened in England.

In other Rangers news, Beale urged to start player with 2 first-team apps for the rest of the season.
