Rangers are reportedly not likely to scrap the Director of Football position after Ross Wilson has now left for Nottingham Forest.

Gers announced the deal had been completed late on Wednesday night, 13 April, and that was a decision that went down well with the fans.

When asked if the position Wilson held will be scrapped at Rangers, Chris Jack, the Scottish Herald journalist mooted a change of delegations.

He told the Rangers Review at 6:02, "I would be surprised if they scrap it altogether. Perhaps they can focus on a different role and bring in someone focused on the recruitment side of it and then bring in somebody else to fill in all the other various aspects of that role.

"I think there's a lack of understanding among football fans or not a great appreciation of what a Director of Football role does."

Makes sense

Wilson was asked to handle recruitment along with other things and as he did a pretty underwhelming job in that aspect, many fans turned on him.

His exit was actually celebrated by a large chunk of the Gers fanbase and it could be the best thing that happens for all parties.

Ideally, Rangers need to focus on someone who works on recruitment and is in close contact with the chief scout and manager.

Rangers

The day-to-day running can be handled by someone else who doesn't necessarily have to be a football person, but a leading figure behind the scenes.

How this will impact the club's summer transfer window, remains to be seen but these are interesting times for Rangers.

With Douglas Park and Wilson going, they have a chance to reset and bring in people who can take this club in a different direction.
