BBC pundit tears Alfredo Morelos to shreds, calls him ‘Idiot’ for incident in Rangers win v Hearts
Neil McCann branded Alfredo Morelos as an “idiot” as Rangers picked up a 3-0 win against Hearts in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday (1 February) at Tynecastle.
Speaking on commentary for BBC Sportsound, McCann was far from impressed when Morelos celebrated his goal in his trademark slide style in front of the home fans rather than with his teammates.
The 26-year-old striker scored twice while Malik Tillman added another to complete a fantastic win for Michael Beale’s side. McCann suggests that Morelos, who has been very good on the night, didn’t need to antagonize the fans.

“There he goes again, the boy’s an idiot. He’s an idiot,” McCann said on BBC Sportsound, as relayed by Football Scotland.
“I just don’t understand, he’s been very good, he’s got his goal and I think he’s been good tonight, really good.
“I just don’t know why he’s doing that, he’s just antagonising the Hearts fans and what’s it take just for someone to launch themselves over the barriers, there’s no need.
“He’s run past his own fans! Listen, maybe it’s a bit strong to call him that but there’s no need for it, I don’t see why he wants to do it.”
Impressive run
Morelos is getting back to his old best, and Beale deserves a lot of credit for his turnaround.
He has now scored four goals in the last three league games and has looked sharp.
Morelos struggled for game time under Giovanni van Bronckhorst and only managed three goals in 12 games before Beale arrived.
His fitness was a big issue for the club, but it appears that the Colombian is enjoying his football again.
With Kemar Roofe and Antonio Colak still out injured, Beale has pinned hopes on Morelos to deliver, and he has stepped up to the plate.

It has to be said that Beale has been able to get the best out of him, and frankly he won’t mind what Morelos does with his celebration.
As long as he is scoring goals and winning matches for the side, the rest doesn’t matter.
Morelos is yet to sign a new contract at Ibrox, and there were fears that he could leave in January.
That didn’t happen, and let’s hope Beale can persuade him to stay for a few more years.
