James Tavernier and Antonio Colak only Rangers players in Kris Boyd team of season so far
Rangers icon Kris Boyd has selected just two Ibrox stars in his Premiership team of the season so far while Andy Walker snubbed the Bears entirely.
In putting together their individual sides of the first half of the campaign for Sky Sports, Boyd opted to put Antonio Colak in attack and James Tavernier in at right-back while Celtic players dominated the majority of his selections.
Walker, meanwhile, chose not to include any Rangers players after Giovanni van Bronckhorst oversaw a slow start to the season which eventually saw him sacked and Michael Beale took over.

“In defence, I can’t ignore the numbers James Tavernier produces from right-back,” Boyd said. “He’s got six goals and five assists this season and while we can’t forget some moments when he has looked uncomfortable, what he brings to the team going forward should not be overlooked.
“You can’t ignore what Antonio Colak has done at Rangers and is one of a few that has come out with pass marks so far this season at Ibrox. If you create opportunities he’s shown he can get into the right position and score goals.”
Lucky
The Light Blues might be second in the Premiership right now but there is an argument to suggest that they are lucky to have even two players in these teams.
Colak definitely has the strongest case having been the talisman prior to the World Cup and Tavernier has always put up good attacking numbers from right-back but there aren’t many more that could be in contention.

Having said that, the majority of the team have been better than their opponents, with the exception of Celtic, because they are above them in the league and the expectation that they will dominate every game sometimes skews people’s view of their performances.
In a way, it is very good that the club are still second in the league having not played very well all season because there is a lot of improvement to come.
If Beale can find that in the near future, then the sky could be the limit for this group of players with the right additions in January.
In other Rangers news, a number of players could end up with a move away from Ibrox in January with talks now able to take place due to the contract situation.
