Official club partner blasts Rangers man Scott Wright, defends Michael Beale decision v Aberdeen

Scott Wright has “massively declined” since a promising start with Rangers according to official club partner Four Lads Had A Dream.

The winger joined the club from Aberdeen in the summer of 2021 while Michael Beale was part of the coaching staff as Steven Gerrard’s assistant.

During the 3-2 win over Aberdeen on Tuesday (20 December) Beale brought Wright on off the bench ahead of Alex Lowry as he chased the goals to win the game, which upset some fans on social media.

But after being asked to put the question to Beale during the next media press conference, the official club partner responded on their personal Twitter account (21 December) to defend the manager’s decision but also make it clear that they don’t agree.

“First of all I don’t think he played well and he has massively declined from a promising start,” they wrote.

“But I don’t think saying to Michael Beale, or any manager, why are you picking him ahead of Alex or anyone, would get a worthwhile answer.

“And that’s not to say I disagree by the way.”

Struggling

Wright is one of a number of players who has been struggling this season, but that’s not to say that he’s a bad player or shouldn’t be getting minutes.

His pace and direct running has been a big threat in the past, and against the low block of Aberdeen in the recent game it was the right type of skillset that was needed on the pitch.

Alex Lowry definitely needs games and more time on the pitch to continue his excellent development, but to single out others because he isn’t getting them isn’t fair.

Other than Antonio Colak none of the attackers have shone this season and they’ve all struggled for form, including key players Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent.

The fans need to trust Beale knows what he is doing and is making the best decisions for the team rather than just trying to get his favourites on the pitch, as we must be united if we want to stand a chance of catching Celtic.
