Report shares if Connor Goldson will start for Rangers v Hibernian after ‘Huge’ news drops

Rangers are likely to be without Connor Goldson for the clash with Hibernian on Thursday despite his recent return to training, say The Sun.

Goldson suffered a knee injury during the shocking Champions League run earlier this season and was expected to be out for several months.

It was revealed (10 December) that the player had returned to training ahead of schedule but wouldn’t be pushed and The Scottish Sun (12 December) believe the first game after the season’s resumption will come too soon for the centre-back.

“Connor Goldson is pushing hard for a return against Hibs, although that may come too soon for him,” they wrote.

Rangers sit nine point behind Celtic in the title race and will be without Borna Barisic and Ridvan Yilmaz for the game due to their participation at the World Cup and injury already.

Patience

While everyone will want to see Goldson back in the side as soon as possible because of how much more stable he makes us, it’s important not to rush him back.

We’ve seen how vital he is to the side and the way we build from the back, but rushing him back after a serious injury could see him re-injure himself.

That would see him out for a while longer and could be far more of a problem than him just missing a few more games ahead of the second half of the season.

Beale has got to trust his squad and with Leon King and Ben Davies fit and able to play in the game and playing well against Bayer Leverkusen during the recent friendly clash, there’s no need to rush especially when he’s already ahead of schedule.

After the Hibs game Rangers will play Aberdeen, Ross County and Motherwell before the crunch clash with Celtic, so there’s plenty of time to get him ready.
