Josh McPake wanted by Northampton after Rangers starlet scores Queens Park worldie

Josh McPake is attracting more interest from England as the Rangers starlet continues to impress at Queens Park, according to the Daily Record.

League Two outfit Northampton Town are the club who now want to sign the 21-year-old who is currently lighting up the Scottish Championship at Hampden Park.

He is currently on a season-long loan at the Spiders but Rangers can choose to recall him to Auchenhowie in January if they wish for him to play elsewhere.

So far this season, McPake has scored five goals with his latest in the SPFL Trophy against Montrose a stunner, driving from his own half to rifle the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

Northampton would be his fourth English loan after Harrogate Town, Morecambe and Tranmere Rovers but there are also Scottish Premiership clubs interested in him.

Familiarity

Poor McPake has not been able to find any consistency or build any momentum in his career because he gets moved from one club to the next seemingly with every transfer window that passes.

The past two seasons saw one loan from August to January and then a different club took him until the end of the season so he has been unable to play a full campaign anywhere.

Rangers

The last thing he needs now that he has found form with Queens Park is to be recalled from his loan and shipped out to Sixfields where he would have to try and establish himself all over again.

And lower-league clubs can’t afford for players to spend three of four matches acclimatising because it could be highly detrimental to their league position and status.

Michael Beale has to see sense here and keep the 21-year-old at Hampden Park unless he has a clear plan to play him in the Rangers first team for the rest of the season.

In other Rangers news, Kenny Miller believes this signing is a no-brainer for Beale although he would have to change his antics to be a success at Ibrox.
