Neil McCann blasts Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos
Neil McCann has been left unimpressed with Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos for his social media activities.
The Colombian international was dropped to the bench by Giovanni van Bronckhorst against Dundee United on Saturday in the Scottish Premiership at Ibrox.
Morelos started in the Champions League clash against Napoli, but McCann has been left annoyed with Morelos’ gym posts on social media.
“There’s lots of things – Morelos is annoying me that he’s sending social media videos in the gym,” said McCann on BBC Sportsound, as relayed by The Scottish Sun (17 September).
“Who cares? No seriously, who cares? He shouldn’t be in a public gym.
“The world of football has changed in terms of how you deal with players and I think Giovanni has made a couple of great managerial decisions with Morelos.”
Getting better
Van Bronckhorst suggested ahead of the match why he picked Antonio Colak ahead of Morelos.
The Dutchman suggested that Morelos is getting sharper, but he is still not up to the required level compared to Colak. But there is an indication that the Colombian is getting better.
Morelos has been a key player for the Bears in the past few seasons, but he has struggled for games this season.
Van Bronckhorst has used Colak in most of the games. Morelos needs to work hard and challenge Colak for a regular starting place.
There were suggestions that Morelos, who has less than a year left on his present contract, could sign a new deal at the club. But, his current form is not leaving a good impression.
He has done nothing so far to force the club to offer him a new deal. Rather, the Gers could now think of selling him in the January window if his situation doesn’t improve.
In other Rangers news, Barry Ferguson is raging at this “spectacular failure” at Ibrox.
