Rangers to complete Malik Tillman signing in next 48 hours
Rangers have almost completed their fifth signing of the 2022 summer with Malik Tillman nearing a move to Ibrox, according to The Times.
The 20-year-old Bayern Munich midfielder is set to join Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s squad over the weekend on an initial one-year loan although the club can make the move permanent next summer as a clause in their agreement.
The United States international could be seen as the long-term replacement for Joe Aribo who left Rangers to join Southampton in the Premier League although the signing of Tom Lawrence may rival his position.
Tillman, who has been nominated for the 2022 European Golden Boy award, has already won the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich and made his Champions League debut for Hansi Flick’s side.
His contract at the Allianz Arena runs for another two years which would mean the Light Blues have to purchase him next summer to ensure he stays at the club for the long haul.

It is amazing how quickly this story has transpired because it was only on 11 July that the Daily Mail broke the news that we were interested in Tillman.
Now though we are potentially days or even hours away from announcing him as our next summer recruit and there is no reason why we shouldn’t be taking a chance on him as a loanee.
The clause to buy him at the end of his loan spell is only an option rather than being mandatory but we would be crazy not to activate that if he plays anywhere near his potential.
There could be a scenario next season where we have Tillman and Lawrence as the attacking midfield duo behind a front three of Rabbi Matondo, Alfredo Morelos (or Antonio Colak if the Colombina leaves) and Ryan Kent which is a genuinely frightening prospect.
No team will fancy trying to stop that although we may have to be a little more reserved in Europe and in the Old Firm derby.
In other Rangers news, we could hold the advantage over Celtic in the race to sign this teenager thanks to the family connections of one of our summer signings.
