Rangers could cause European shockwaves with potent attacking trio

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has completed his ideal Rangers attacking trio with the signing of Welsh international Rabbi Matondo from FC Schalke.

The 21-year-old arrived at Ibrox on Tuesday (12 July) having agreed a four-year deal with the Light Blues, as announced by the club’s official website, to be our third signing of the summer after Tom Lawrence and Antonio Colak.

All three purchases, with the exception of John Souttar who joined us on a pre-contract agreement from Hearts, have been in attacking areas and it has said a lot about what the boss wants from his side this season.

Matondo, who will wear the number 17 shirt for Rangers, is expected to line up in a very potent attacking trio alongside Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos which is likely to cause chaos in the Scottish Premiership this season.

But it won’t just be the defenders of Scotland’s top division clubs who are quivering at the thought of defending against that combination though.

With all three in top form, we could well outscore almost anyone in Europe whether that be the Champions League, Europa League or the Conference League and we saw how well we did last season without Morelos for much of the knockout rounds.

That change into an attacking at all costs team could cause plenty of goals to be shipped in our own goal but the amount we would score should be enough to counteract any of that.

Let’s not forget Lawrence’s creativity behind them and the epic contributions of skipper James Tavernier from right-back that can be added to our long list of scorers and Colak’s presence should mean that Morelos can’t rest on his laurels should he remain at the club this season.

In other Rangers news, we are signing yet another youngster from elsewhere in Scotland as our academy project continues to grow.
