Rangers must sign Thompson Ishaka after opposition defenders 'nightmare' verdict
If Rangers are lacking anything in their squad at the moment, it might be a second dynamic winger to compliment Ryan Kent on the other side.
Fashion Sakala and Scott Wright both played on that far side last season with Amad Diallo, on loan from Manchester United, also played the occasional game on the right flank while Kent commanded the left-hand side.
But with pre-season underway, trialists are trying to earn themselves a contract up and down the country and that is just as true at Auchenhowie.
The Light Blues B team played their first friendly of the campaign on Wednesday (6 July) and it was a trialist who went on to run the show against Elgin City and take the man of the match award for the 4-0 win.
Nigerian youngster Thompson Ishaka was the man asked to make magic happen from the right-hand side and he did just that with a clip shared by Ibrox Chat on Twitter of the youngster flying down the wing.
Elgin defender Darryl McHardy was the man tasked with trying to keep Ishaka quiet and it has clearly had a very big impact on him.
“I had nightmares about this lad last night,” McHardy said on Twitter. “Ridiculous, glided past boys with ease.”
Giovanni van Bronckhorst might not have been managing the B side as they dominated Elgin City but he will have certainly kept an eye on proceedings and his pupils will have been as wide as they have ever been seeing Ishaka’s speed.
Rangers simply must make the move to try and sign the Nigerian even if he doesn’t come straight into the senior side because he could destroy the Lowland League for the B team.
Elgin are a League Two side and he has run the ragged from start to finish and he could be doing that to Premiership sides in the near future.
