Rangers ready six-figure move to sign Dylan Reid from St Mirren ahead of Crystal Palace

Rangers are readying a “six-figure” move to sign young St Mirren midfielder Dylan Reid to add him to their B team for next season, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper reported on Wednesday (6 July) that Reid, 17, is also “attracting major interest” from Crystal Palace and Benfica but St Mirren will only sell the midfield sensation if they can get a “significant” fee plus future add-ons.

The Daily Record has previously reported (11 May) that the midfield sensation has had trials with Benfica and Bayern Munich.

It is understood that Rangers’ head of academy Craig Mulholland set out on a transfer mission to watch of Reid as he played for St Mirren in their pre-season friendly defeat to Northampton on Tuesday night (5 July).

Rangers need to make more of an effort of scooping up top Scottish talent from other clubs.

Only Celtic can say they can match our pull so there’s no reason why the Gers can’t look at young talent elsewhere in Scotland and look into striking deals.

Reid is a no-brainer.

The young midfielder has already played four times for St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership and has been a regular for Scotland’s Under-17s.

One of his performances for the Buddies came when he played 90 minutes of a 0-0 draw against Celtic when he played as a holding midfielder.

And if you consider the fact that he’s been watched over by Bayern Munich and Benfica, you know there’s a big talent emerging over in Paisley.

Reid is definitely one for the future so signing him for our B team, with the view to him featuring every now and then in the senior side, is a very good move.

Training with the likes of Ryan Jack would do him the world of good.

In other Rangers news, the Gers could table a bid to sign this English player on a permanent basis.
