PAOK expect new Rangers bid to sign Antonio Colak amid £2.5m transfer development
PAOK expect Rangers to table a new bid for striker Antonio Colak this summer after their opening offer was rejected, according to Greek journalist Georgios Sideridis.
Sideridis works for Yellow Radio, which is a radio station based in the Greek city of Thessaloniki, which is where PAOK are based.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Tuesday (28 June), he reported that PAOK “will not accept any offer less than” the £2.5million they paid for Colak, 28, when he joined from Rijeka in 2020.
It is understood that Colak, a Croatia international, wants to join Rangers and that is expected to play a “major role” in negotiations between the Scottish Cup champions and Greek Super League side PAOK.
Taking their time
Ross Wilson needs to get a jog on here and do some business because we’re growing increasingly worried by Rangers’ activity in this transfer window – or should we say, lack of activity?
Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and Joe Aribo are all out of contract next year and clubs are bound to wait until the last stages of this transfer window in order to bid.
Why? Because we’re in a vulnerable situation where we might be forced into selling those three players unless we can get them tied down to new deals.
As a result, clubs will wait late in the summer as long as a new deal hasn’t been agreed and that way they can come in with low-ball bids.
We’re really worried about Morelos and how much he leaves for because let’s face it, it won’t be anywhere near what he’s actually worth due to this situation the club has gotten itself into.
Colak seems like a good striker and he’s already proven he can score goals at Ibrox when he netted twice against Steven Gerrard’s side while on loan at Malmo last season.
We’d take him. But we doubt we’ll make any concrete moves unless we know for sure that Morelos is on his way.
In other Rangers news, an £8million bid has been mooted for this Ibrox star.
