Amad Diallo says goodbye to Rangers fans as Ibrox loan comes to an end
Amad Diallo has sent Rangers fans his best wishes on social media after announcing his exit from the Ibrox club after a short loan stint.
The Manchester United winger joined the club on loan in January as Giovanni van Bronckhorst moved to replace Ianis Hagi quickly, after he suffered a season-ending knee injury.
But while the loan move didn’t really take off for the Ivorian youngster, he sent a message to the Ibrox faithful via his official Twitter account and wished the club all the best.
“Thanks guys it was a pleasure to be part of your beautiful trip… all the best,” he said, followed with a heart emoji.
The video was accompanied by a short clip of some of his best moments in the famous shirt, including his debut goal against Ross County after just four minutes.
Amad had the fans on the edge of their seats with excitement as his signing was initially confirmed from Old Trafford, but after starting so well he seemed to lose the trust of the manager almost immediately.
He was hooked halfway through the battering at Celtic Park in February and barely used again up until the club began to prioritise the Europa League run, using him in heavily rotated sides.
Despite that though his football intelligence shone through in his performances and he often played well, but he wasn’t called upon in the final in Seville although he did start the Scottish Cup final a few days later.
He played well before being substituted and while the loan didn’t meet the expectations of anyone associated with the deal, the player didn’t do anything wrong.
He won’t be someone who lives long in the memory, but he’ll be treated well whenever he returns to the club in the future although it won’t be wearing the famous blue shirt.
