Rangers team news: Confirmed starting XI v Ross County

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has made seven changes to Rangers’ starting line-up ahead of their final Scottish Premiership match at Ibrox this season against Ross County.

Ahead of the game on Wednesday night (11 May), the Light Blues confirmed via their official Twitter account that Jon McLaughlin, Leon King, James Sands, Steven Davis, big-name star Aaron Ramsey, Scott Arfield and Fashion Sakala have all been dropped.

Allan McGregor, Calvin Bassey, Glen Kamara, John Lundstram, Alex Lowry, Joe Aribo and Ryan Kent have all come into the side amid wholesale changes from the team that won against Dundee United at the weekend.

Go out in style

It’ll take something ridiculous for Rangers to win the league title now so the least we can ask of the players on Wednesday night is to give us something big to cheer about.

Van Bronckhorst and his men will be playing at Ibrox for the last time before a huge week next week that includes a Europa League final against Frankfurt and a Scottish Cup final against Hearts.

It’s unlikely that the players will exert themselves too much against Ross County, who have been in dreadful form and now have just one more point than 10th-placed Aberdeen.

However, we still expect a performance and a big win that will give van Bronckhorst plenty to think about ahead of the week of finals next week.

It’ll be a good chance for the fringe players and youngsters to not only try and get involved in the squads next week but also showcase what they can offer to the Dutchman next season.

Rangers will no doubt have a lot of business to do this summer with contracts and loans expiring, money to spend and players being wanted elsewhere.

Ross Wilson is likely to have formulated plans already but it’d be good for some of the lesser-seen players to force the director of football to write up new plans that involve them.

In other Rangers news, this Ibrox sensation is going to quit the Gers within weeks with a sell-on clause potentially involved in a deal.
