Alex Lowry shines in 9/10 display - Rangers player ratings v Ross County

Rangers cruised to a 4-1 victory over Ross County in their final fixture at Ibrox this season, with goals from James Tavernier, Scott wright, Fashion Sakala and Amad Diallo the difference for the Gers.

Rangers undoubtedly have one eye on next week’s Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt, nevertheless, Giovanni van Bronkhorst’s side put in a professional and dominant display over Malky Mackay’s side.

The Gers face Hearts in their final league fixture on Saturday before they travel to Sevilla for their European showdown

Here, Ibrox News rates the players’ performance out of 10

Allan McGregor – 5

With the home side having over 80% of the possession for much of the game it’s hard to give McGregor a high rating. He certainly wasn’t at fault for Jordan White’s wonder strike in the 72nd minute.

James Tavernier – 7

It is hard to believe that Tavernier is a right-back at times. Rangers’ top scorer spent the majority of this match inside the Ross County box, always trying to be an attacking outlet. Tucked his penalty away with ease and could well be called upon again next week to show his spot kick prowess.

Connor Goldson – 6

Good run out for the centre half ahead of a huge week. He was rarely troubled and made a number of runs forward. Will be disappointed not to have scored with a free header in the 62nd minute. Got the assist for Wright’s opener.

Calvin Bassey – 8

Was gaining plenty of praise on commentary and despite being untroubled for much of the game, he makes defending look so easy. Good assist for Diallo’s goal. Electric pace and was always keen to drive forward with the ball and join the attack. Excellent ball-carrier. Good luck to Frankfurt trying to get past Bassey.

Borna Barišić – 6

Again, much like the rest of his defensive partners, was very untroubled. Made a few clever runs forward before being substituted at halftime for Leon Balogun.

John Lundstram – 5

After being the hero against Leipzig, Lundstram can be let off for his quiet first half display. Very little to do and controlled the centre of midfield well before being replaced by Steven Davis in the 60th minute.

Alex Lowry – 9

A very impressive display from the youngster. The attacking midfielder glides across the pitch and is a joy to watch with his close control. For a taller player, he has excellent agility and quick feet. Some gorgeous through balls into the strikers. Great display beyond his years.

Glen Kamara – 6

With the Europa League final in a matter of days, Kamara can be let off for a quiet display. Some nice touches but didn’t influence proceedings.

Joe Aribo – 7

Classy first-half display after coming back from his injury sustained in the Leipzig semi-final. Some lovely touches in the opposition box. Played in a central role, don’t be surprised to see Aribo in that berth in Sevilla.

Ryan Kent – 6

Much like Aribo, Kent had some lovely touches and nutmegs in and around the Ross County area before being withdrawn in the 60th minute for Fashion Sakala.

Scott Wright – 5

Nice instinctive finish for his goal and was lucky to escape a serious injury after a horror challenge on him. At fault for their goal, giving the ball away in a dangerous area.

Amad Diallo (on for Aribo, ’45) – 6

Leon Balogun (on for Barisic, ’45) – 5

Steven Davis (on for Lundstram, ’60) – 6

Fashion Sakala (on for Kent, ’60 – Nice finish for his 10th goal of the season) – 6

Scott Arfield (on for White, ’72) – 5

In other Rangers news, this Ibrox sensation is going to quit the Gers within weeks with a sell-on clause potentially involved in a deal.
