Rangers set for major Kemar Roofe injury boost v RB Leipzig, Giovanni van Bronckhorst desperate - report
Rangers forward Kemar Roofe looks set to win his fitness race to feature against RB Leipzig, according to The Sun.
After missing the past three games through injury, the Jamaican international looks ready to feature in the second leg of the Europa League semi-finals.
It is reported that Giovanni van Bronckhorst is desperate to get Roofe back available and ready for the Ibrox showdown.
Barring any late setbacks in the next 48 hours, it looks likely that Roofe will be named in the squad atleast.
It doesn’t mention whether he will be fit enough to start, but that would be the hope given our struggles in the final third.
Van Bronckhorst is said to be optimistic after Roofe underwent special treatments such as hyperbaric oxygen chambers.
This would be a huge boost, and everyone will know that.
It hasn’t hurt the squad too much missing an out-and-out striker, picking up a big draw against Celtic and holding our own in Leipzig.
Van Bronckhorst will know that there was not enough in terms of attacking danger over in Germany, but it also paid off with a humongous defensive effort.
If not for a late wonder strike from Angelino, it would have been all square going to Ibrox on Thursday evening.
With Roofe likely available though, it should see our danger level rise for that Leipzig defence, who haven’t been exactly solid in recent weeks.
The Jamaican will be more desperate than Van Bronckohrst to make a difference and know he will the main man in the absence of Alfredo Morelos.
Make it happen, we cannot go into this one with Scott Wright, Fashion Sakala or Joe Aribo playing that role.
