Alan Brazil drops Rangers admission live on-air after watching 1-0 defeat v RB Leipzig
Celtic-mad broadcaster Alan Brazil admits he was impressed by Rangers’ performance against RB Leipzig in Germany on Thursday night.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men lost 1-0 in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final match, meaning they have it all to do at Ibrox next week to reach the final.
Despite suffering defeat at the Red Bull Arena, Brazil told Ally McCoist that he thought van Bronckhorst’s side put in an admirable performance.
“Ally, I watched the game last night. Rangers played well,” said Brazil on talkSPORT on Friday morning [29 April], as shown on the radio station’s Twitter account.
McCoist went on to say that “if you offered a Rangers fan a 1-0 loss, they’d have bitten your hand off”.
All to play for
Rangers stand as much a chance of winning their Europa League semi-final now as they did before they boarded the plane to Germany this week.
If you think about it, the Gers went into the away leg as underdogs.
And now they’re also going into the second leg as underdogs with the expectation on RB Leipzig to finish off the job.
Rangers had a massive task to try and avoid defeat in Germany and they almost did it so you’d imagine that the mindset will now be, “if they can struggle to beat us at their place, we can beat the at our home”.
And with 10s of thousands of Bears roaring them on at Ibrox next Thursday, you’d imagine it being the boost the Light Blues need in order to seal the deal and book a spot in the final in Seville.
We still believe this is achievable for Rangers.
Leipzig are a very good team – but there’s something special about this squad of players that the Gers have.
