Ally McCoist praises 'brilliant' Rangers defender Connor Goldson
Rangers centre back Connor Goldson has been praised heavily by BT Sport co-commentator Ally McCoist as the Scottish Premiership side took on RB Leipzig tonight at the Red Bull Arena.
The Gers’ defender made a crucial block as Austrian international Konrad Laimer ran through on goal, which prompted high praise from the former Gers icon.
The vital interception keeps Giovanni Van Bronckhorst’s side level at the time but it took an Angelino screamer to split the teams.
Speaking live on BT Sport, McCoist said: “I’ll tell you right now, it’s a tremendous challenge.
“Laimer should have hit it earlier I’ve got to say to you, he got his half yard initially.
“But, again, it’s brilliant defending from Goldson.”

Key man
Goldson has been a key player in the Gers’ incredible run in the Europa League and will need to keep up his scintillating form if his side are to have a fighting chance at Ibrox next week.
The defender has played every minute of the Glasgow giants’ knockout ties in the competition, and this is just one of a number of key blocks as he has helped his side progress against Borussia Dortmund, Red Star Belgrade, and most recently Braga.
Despite being out of contract in the summer, the centre back is showing that he is still more than up for the fight with his current club.
The former Brighton man will have plenty of suitors after his signature in the summer if he can continue to impress on the European stage.
His future remains uncertain in Glasgow, but his presence is the most important thing at the moment for Van Bronkhorst and his team as they strive for a first European final since 2008.
In other Rangers news, one 25-year-old could now be deemed as surplus to requirements at Ibrox this season.
