Ally McCoist and Kenny Miller gush over Rangers ace Aaron Ramsey

Ally McCoist and Kenny Miller have held back no praise for Rangers midfielder Aaron Ramsey ahead of the Gers’ second leg clash against Braga tonight [April 14].

Giovanni van Bronckhorst backed the Wales international to start the Light Blues’ crunch quarter-final tie at Ibrox in an attempt to overturn the 1-0 deficit suffered in Portugal and he delivered.

The BT Sport waxed lyrical over the Juventus maestro as he looks to rescue the lacklustre start to his loan spell in Glasgow.

“He’s absolutely top class when he plays,” McCoist said live on BT Sport [April 14, 19:32].

“Rangers are a far, far better team when he plays.”

Miller added: “He is absolutely crucial to the way Rangers play.”

Time to shine.

The fact McCoist said “when he plays” tells you everything you need to know. Juventus were eager to get rid of the injury-prone ace and unfortunately, his fitness troubles have continued with the Gers.

The former Arsenal man hasn’t quite made the impact many thought he would when joining in January but there is still time to rescue his so-far underwhelming loan spell.

His goal in the Old Firm defeat at Ibrox was a huge boost for the Welshman and hopefully a sign of more things to come as Rangers enter the business end of the season.

The game against Braga tonight and the semi-final clash against Celtic on the weekend is exactly why the Bears signed him so hopefully, he can finally live up to the high expectations on his shoulders.

Van Bronckhorst’s team desperately need a positive result tonight after such a disappointing display in Portugal and he needs to be at the centre of it.

The Europa League and Scottish Cup are now must-wins with the Gers now looking very unlikely to retain their league champions status.

In other Rangers news, Michael Bridge makes a damning Rangers v Braga prediction.
