Rangers and Celtic in pursuit of Coventry midfielder Gustavo Hamer
Rangers are among a number of clubs who have a growing interest in Coventry City midfielder Gustavo Hamer ahead of the summer, according to Football League World.
The football news website reports that Celtic, Brentford, Leeds and Norwich are also keen on signing the 24-year-old Dutchman, who was born in Brazil.
It is understood that Hamer will enter the final year of his contract at Coventry in the summer and “sources have explained to Football League World that Celtic and Rangers continue to show an interest in” signing him.

Football League World journalist Alfie Burns adds: “Rangers were first linked back in the summer, but sources have outlined how Hamer is emerging as a target once more as the summer comes into focus.”
Bronckhorst’s prodigy
Hamer moved to the Netherlands as a child after being born in Brazil and his first club was Feyenoord.
In the 2016/17 season, Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst led Feyenoord to their first Eredivisie title in 18 years and during that campaign, Hamer was handed his senior debut for the Rotterdam club.
He played just two times for van Bronckhorst before eventually being loaned out and eventually allowed to leave De Kuip permanently, signing for PEC Zwolle before Coventry brought the holding midfielder to the UK in July 2020.

Since joining the West Midlands club, Hamer has helped them establish themselves in the English Championship, playing 73 times in all competitions, scoring seven goals and supplying nine assists.
Hamer has been a shining light at Coventry with manager Mark Robins, on 1 December, calling him a “special player” [Coventry Telegraph].
Hamer is good defensively and also strong in possession while he also takes Coventry’s set-pieces, assisting four goals in his last three Championship appearances.
He’d be a good signing for Rangers in the summer based upon all of this.
