Rangers table £5m offer to sign Bologna winger Skov Olsen

Rangers have made a bid to sign Bologna winger Andreas Skov Olsen as their recruitment drive continues, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper reported on 15 January [page 20] that the Gers have made a bid worth £5million for the 22-year-old Denmark international.

It is understood that billionaire-owned Bologna are lining up Aberdeen right-back Calvin Ramsay as they wheel and deal with clubs in Scotland.

Superb deal

If Bologna accept that bid and Skov Olsen joins Rangers, it would be a great piece of business by Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Ross Wilson.

It has been a very measured start to the January transfer window by the Gers even though they sold Nathan Patterson to Everton early on for a club-record fee.

There must have been a temptation there for van Bronckhorst to take that cash and really make his own stamp on the side but instead, he’s made a couple of smart signings.

In John Souttar, who agreed a pre-contract on Friday to join us from Hearts, the Light Blues have landed a centre-back who’s experienced in the Scottish Premiership and can replace players like Connor Goldson, who’s likely to leave Ibrox in the summer.

James Sands has joined on loan with the view to a permanent move from New York City and he adds depth to a midfield that could lose Steven Davis and Scott Arfield in the summer.

Rangers are planning for the future with their dealings so far and Skov Olsen is a player who could be used for the present and the future.

He’s only 22-years-old so is a long-term investment but the Gers’ lack of natural right-wingers means he could come in and start playing games instantly.

In other Rangers news, a major bust-up has been mooted at Ibrox after news broke earlier this week.
