Bournemouth in talks to sign Rangers-linked Joe Rothwell for £1m

Bournemouth have reportedly opened talks to sign Blackburn Rovers midfielder Joe Rothwell who is also linked with a move to Rangers.

According to The Daily Mail, the EFL Championship are willing to pay £1million to secure the 26-year-old in January.

The English central midfielder has been everpresent for Blackburn this season, making 25 Championship appearances.

Worth pursuing

Despite James Sands’ arrival, Rangers could do with an extra body in the middle of the park.

Scott Arfield and Steven Davis are both on the wrong side of 30 while John Lundstram has not been the signing many thought he would be.

In addition to that, Glen Kamara could be on his way out in the summer as interest in his services does not seem to be reducing at the moment.

Even Joe Aribo could feel that he’s outgrown the challenge at Rangers and could jump ship if a Premier League side comes calling.

Signing Rothwell ahead of Bournemouth will be seen as a major coup for Rangers.

The Englishman is a joy to watch with the ball at his feet and has an unbelievable passing range.

He could be the ideal Davis replacement and could anchor this midfield for the better of a decade.

Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray is a huge admirer of the player and has waxed lyrical over him on numerous occasions.

“We’ve been talking about how amazing Joe Rothwell is, his technique and his outstanding ability to run with the ball,” he said.

Hopefully, Gers open talks as well and try getting him to Ibrox ahead of the Championship side.
