Stephen Craigan wowed by 'sensational' Joe Aribo in Rangers v Hibernian
Stephen Craigan was blown away by Rangers attacker Joe Aribo in the 3-1 loss to Hibernian at Hampden Park on Sunday.
Alfredo Morelos had a chance to score in the first half after he was played in by Aribo.
While the striker’s shot was straight at the goalkeeper, Aribo’s playmaking ability was praised by Craigan on Premier Sport 1.
“The pass from Joe Aribo is absolutely sensational,” said the BT Sport pundit.
“The weight of the pass just takes Paul Hanlon out of the game.
“Morelos gets plenty of power, plenty of venom, behind the shot but he can’t direct it past Matt Macey.”
Craigan later added about Aribo: “He’s been influential, drifting all over the pitch.”
David McCallum needs to answer for his weird substitutions in the second half because they basically stopped Rangers from getting back into the game.
Aribo was by far our best player but was hooked off in the 69th minute to be replaced by Ryan Jack of all players.
We have three defensive midfielders on the pitch at one point while we were chasing the game – it really was baffling.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst won’t be doing that, we hope, as the Dutchman sat on from the stands and watched what was truly an awful display.
Aribo, at least, offered some glimpses of hope for the new Gers manager as the attacking midfielder shone with his passing and dribbling ability.
Unfortunately, not many of his teammates were on the same wavelength as Hibs won fairly easily in the League Cup semi-final.
On Thursday, we have to win against Sparta Prague in order to stay in the Europa League.
On Thursday, the players must do so much better and we pray that they do with a new man in the dugout.
In other Rangers news, Sir Kenny Dalglish expects van Bronckhorst to make this fringe player one of his key men.
