Ryan Kent starts, Glen Kamara out: Rangers predicted XI v Brondby after Steven Gerrard team news
Ryan Kent could make his first appearance for Rangers in almost two months at Brondby on Thursday night after Steven Gerrard confirmed he’s available for the Europa League showdown.
Speaking to the media ahead of the trip to Denmark, Gerrard confirm that Kent “will travel” with the rest of the Gers squad this week.
However, he cast doubt about Glen Kamara’s fitness and also ruled Ryan Jack out of the game, although the ex-Aberdeen midfielder may return from his lengthy spell on the sidelines this weekend.
Based on Kent’s fitness and the doubts surrounding Kamara’s availability, we predict that Gerrard will make two changes from the team that beat Motherwell 6-1 at Fir Park on Sunday.
Alfredo Morelos is predicted to make way for Kent while John Lundstram may return to the side to replace Kamara after his knock.
Allan McGregor is expected to start in goals behind an unchanged back-four of James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Leon Balogun and Calvin Bassey.
Steven Davis and Scott Arfield impressed at Fir Park and are likely to retain their midfield spots in Denmark with summer signing Lundstram joining them.
Joe Aribo is predicted to start on the right-hand side of the attack with Kent on the opposite flank.
After scoring a hat-trick against Motherwell on Sunday, Fashion Sakala is predicted to spearhead Gerrard’s attack with Morelos being dropped to the bench.
While it’s not a must-win game for the Gers, victory in Brondby is likely to set them on their way for a top-two finish in Group A with tougher fixtures versus Sparta Prague and Lyon to come.
In other Rangers news, Michael Owen has predicted the score for Thursday night’s clash with Brondby.
