Alan Brazil rubbishes Gary Neville's Rangers claim

Alan Brazil has rubbished Gary Neville’s Rangers claim after the Sky Sports pundit named Ibrox as the ground where he experienced the best atmosphere.

The ex-Manchester United defender told LadBibleTV [11/09/21] that “Ibrox is definitely the loudest”.

Speaking on talkSPORT [16/09/21] on his return to the radio station after an extended break, Brazil couldn’t wait to get his teeth stuck into Neville’s quotes from five days previous.

Brazil said: “I am not talking to Gary Neville, he can get stuffed. He said, in an interview, his greatest ever away atmosphere was Ibrox, has he never played against Celtic at Parkhead?”

Ally McCoist responded: “Listen Al, we can have a laugh and wind each other up but I tell you what, European nights [at] Anfield, Parkhead, Ibrox, they’re absolutely unbelievable aren’t they, they are unbelievable, they really are. Gary’s got it just about spot on.”

Brazil: “No he hasn’t, he must’ve been ill. He must have missed it, he couldn’t have been at Parkhead that night!”

If it’s not the best, then Ibrox is certainly in the top bracket for atmosphere in Europe.

Rangers have a rich history at Ibrox, and there have been some historic nights at the stadium.

Those have been fewer and farther between in recent years amid the club’s struggles in the lower depths of the Scottish divisions, but the last few years have seen a return to European football, and Ibrox has been bouncing after some special games.

Home wins over Porto and Braga during the 2020/21 campaign were particularly impressive, but the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic has ensured the Gers have been starved of their supporters recently.

However, they’re back now, and Thursday’s clash with Lyon is set to be a lively one.
