Everton want Aberdeen's Ramsay after missing out on Rangers ace Patterson
Everton now want Aberdeen right-back Calvin Ramsay after missing out on Rangers ace Nathan Patterson, according to The Scottish Sun.
The Premier League side were keen on the Gers’ right-back, 19, during the summer transfer window, but their two bids were knocked back and they now appear to be looking elsewhere.
Everton watched Ramsay in action against Motherwell on Saturday, and he has shot to the top of the Toffees’ January transfer watch-list as a result of his display.
The Goodison Park outfit now believe they could land the Scotland under-21 international for a fraction of the fee Patterson would cost.
Rangers can breathe a sigh of relief if Everton are indeed planning to look elsewhere for the right-back they want ahead of the winter transfer window.
The Merseyside club were always going to keep finding a player for the position after missing out on Patterson, and the minds of those at the Ibrox outfit would not be at ease as they know they can expect a new bid when the next transfer window opens.
However, that could be off the cards with Everton now looking at the Aberdeen teenager instead.
They can get him for much less, and that should appeal to them after Steven Gerrard’s side played hardball over a fee for their academy graduate.
The news should come as a boost for Rangers, but other clubs could be keeping tabs on the youngster too, and there is no way to stop bids from coming in for such a player with great potential.
Everton were desperate to get a deal done, though, but other suitors may not be too keen to seal a move for him in January, and that would be good for both club and player.
In other Rangers news, Barry Ferguson says he’s surprised Bears didn’t sign 21y/o ace in the summer.
