Derek Ferguson slams Conor Goldson in Rangers win v Celtic
Rangers kept bragging rights in Glasgow this afternoon with a tight 1-0 win over Celtic at Ibrox.
It was an end-to-end clash at Ibrox, but it was packed with mistakes from both sides as they searched for the opening goal.
Derek Ferguson was watching the game live and was left far from impressed with what he saw from Conor Goldson at times.
Speaking on the BBC during coverage of the Old Firm, Ferguson was not impressed with what he saw from the enforcer.
“Again, Connor Goldson very slack,” he said.
“It’s as if he loses focus at a crucial time and it could’ve been a whole lot worse for Rangers.”
There were far too many times where Goldson was either playing around with possession at the back or putting his side under unnecessary pressure – especially in the first half with the scores level.
Not many expect that from the defender, who is usually the one to stand up and be counted when he is needed.
Odsonne Edouard had plenty of chances to punish him, but the Frenchman clearly has his mind set on leaving Parkhead rather than Old Firms this week.
Thankfully, he wasn’t punished and the Bears can go into the international break with another clean-sheet and their season well and truly kickstarted.
With the likes of James Tavernier back after this two-week break, things should start going back to normal sooner rather than later.
