Chris Sutton makes unbelievable Rangers claim ahead of Celtic clash

Chris Sutton has insisted that Celtic could sink Rangers and their title chances by winning the first Old Firm of the season.

The controversial pundit admitted that Ange Postecoglou could pile on the problems at Ibrox and then charge towards the title.

Both clubs have already lost once this season, but Sutton believes the Bears could already be set to crumble in the Scottish Premiership.

Writing in his Daily Record column, Sutton insisted that even he can’t believe what he is writing.

“Ange Postecoglou has a serious chance to pile more problems on to Rangers tomorrow,” he wrote.

“If the club can make the right moves over a vital next 72 hours, he might just have an opportunity to do the improbable and sink them over the whole season and win back the title.

“I can barely believe I’m saying that, but power can change quickly in Glasgow. Celtic fell apart from a position of strength last year. It could be Rangers who crumble this year. It can happen. I’ve lived it myself.”

Everyone knew this was going to happen.

Celtic have finally beaten a couple of minnows convincingly in the Scottish Premiership, and all of a sudden they are world-beaters.

Sutton needs to be careful with his prediction because it could really come back to haunt him over the next 48 hours.

Rangers have a packed Ibrox all pushing them on in this Old Firm, and it will produce an atmosphere like something never seen before with no Celtic fans present.

Can they handle that? They crumbled and made some absolute howlers against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday, so what will they do in this one?

This will no doubt be a close affair given our COVID-19 issues, but Sutton is already showing great naivety and it is time to punish that.
