Rangers confirm Steven Gerrard starting XI v Ross County
Steven Gerrard has made two changes to his starting line-up ahead of Rangers’ Scottish Premiership tie at Ross County on Sunday.
After a laboured 1-0 win against Alashkert in the Europa League on Thursday, Gerrard has opted to start Leon Balogun and Glen Kamara with Filip Helander missing out and out-of-sorts 27-year-old John Lundstram being axed.
Ahead of the match at Victoria Park, the Gers confirmed the team news via their official Twitter account.
It seems weird to say this just three matches in to the league season but this game against Ross County is a must-win for Rangers.
Other than the pumpings of Livingston and Dunfermline, our start to the season has been less than impressive.
We’ve lost to Dundee United in the league, lost twice to Malmo to be dumped out of the Champions League and were less than convincing in the 1-0 win over Armenian minnows Alashkert in the Europa League playoff this week.
Celtic, on the other hand, have seen things click in recent weeks.
Ange Postecoglou’s team are on a high and smashed St Mirren 6-0 at Parkhead on Saturday.
We cannot lose touch of them so soon in the season so beating Ross County on the road is a must.
Next weekend, we’ll play our first Old Firm game of the season and we absolutely cannot go into that in bad form.
As it stands, our form is poor but an emphatic win over the Staggies will go a long way to boosting the players ahead of the Celtic game.
We have full faith in this squad of players and we also have massive faith in Gerrard.
Every team has their ups and downs but now is the time to show we’re out of the rut we were in.
