Steven Gerrard confirms Rangers team news v Malmo
Steven Gerrard has confirmed his Rangers team news ahead of the crucial showdown with Malmo on Tuesday.
The Bears go into the two-legged clash knowing a win will send them into the play-off round to enter the Champions League group stage.
Gerrard shared the news with three of his key players suspended and a number of injuries reported.
Sharing the news on their official Twitter account, Rangers would find it “impossible” to keep the same team each week, Gerrard suggested.
“We are used to this sort of schedule, it is the reason why I have built a strong squad as is impossible to ask the same 11 players to go every match,” he said.
“We have a few suspensions and injuries for this match but we have more than enough to put a good team out.”
Gerrard will be without Glen Kamara, Leon Balogun and Kemar Roofe as their bans from last season come through to this year.
On top of that, there are numerous injury problems that Ianis Hagi will likely add to after the opener against Livingston on Saturday.
The Romanian scored the first goal of the season but was then forced off after a nasty challenge by Adam Lewis.
It will open the door to the likes of John Lundstram, who will get his first taste of Champions League football in midfield alongside Steven Davis.
Allan McGregor is also confirmed to start already after being rested for Jon McLaughlin over the weekend.
Gerrard has added to his squad depth superbly this summer, and it is time for those players to prove themselves tomorrow.
