Rangers troll Celtic with Midtjylland video clip after Postecoglou's Champions League exit

There are few more popular characters among Rangers fans right now than the club’s Twitter admin.

Over the last year, we’ve seen the club’s official account issue brilliantly subtle responses to certain stories.

But today (Thursday), the Gers have outdone themselves.

Celtic fans are unlikely to be waking up in the best of moods this morning after seeing Ange Postecoglou’s debut Champions League campaign end without a victory.

Danish side Midtjylland dumped the Bhoys out of the Champions League qualifying rounds on Wednesday night with a 3-2 aggregate win after extra-time.

It means that, yet again, Celtic have failed to make it past the qualifying rounds in European football.

Expectations on the other side of Glasgow aren’t exactly high after the circus that they were treated to last season but there’s no way they’re in a decent mood after that loss in Denmark.

And there’s no doubt that Rangers’ Twitter account has made that mood even worse by trolling Celtic for their defeat to Midtjylland by showing them how to score away at the Danish club.

In the 2019/20 season, Rangers reached the Europa League group stages by beating Midtjylland 7-3 on aggregate.

In the first leg, which was away in Denmark, Steven Gerrard’s men won 4-2 with Scott Arfield grabbing the final goal.

Is there anything special about this goal? Not really. It was kind of a basic finish into the bottom corner from inside the penalty area. It wasn’t spectacular.

But it deserves to be the goal of the day for being such an average goal against a team that Rangers beat two years ago, but Celtic couldn’t beat this week.

It’s absolutely brilliant to see content like this.

Keep it coming, Rangers.
