Perry Groves delivers Rangers verdict, slams Celtic for CL misery
Perry Groves expects Rangers to get “better and stronger” this summer en route to retaining the Scottish Premiership.
The talkSPORT pundit discussed Celtic and Rangers after the former suffered a humiliating defeat against FC Midtjylland that saw them get knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers.
Groves slammed Celtic’s performance against the Danish side and stated that he does not have high hopes for them.
He said on talkSPORT, “It’s their season done and dusted.
“That’s the second season on the trot they’ve been knocked out in the second qualifying round. So they’ve been beaten by the second best team in Denmark.
“Rangers are only going to get better and stronger. If you’re a Celtic fan you must be looking and thinking ‘we have no chance of catching Rangers’. Absolutely none, whatsoever.”
We see no lies
Groves is absolutely spot on with his assessment of Celtic and their fans and we’re loving this.
They thought that they would be qualifying for the Champions League with us and under a new manager they’d mount a realistic claim for the Scottish throne.
However, if initial impressions are anything to go by, we’re not worried by the threat they might pose in the latter stages of the season.
Steven Gerrard’s building something special here at the Ibrox and the club have backed him wholeheartedly in the transfer window.
The dressing room also seems to be a livelier place with him at the helm.
He is the man to take us to the next level and once we secure qualification for the Champions League group stages, we can start dreaming of navigating our way into the last 16.
Looking at the way we’ve played in pre-season and the signings we’ve brought through the door this summer, there’s no reason why we should not be optimistic going into the Champions League.
