Rodrygo blown away by Steven Gerrard after footage emerges from Ibrox friendly
Rodrygo issued a two-word response to footage of him with Steven Gerrard during Real Madrid’s friendly against Rangers at Ibrox.
The Scottish giants ended up 2-1 winners as they overpowered their Spanish counterparts on Sunday.
Rodrygo was the only Real player to score in that game and now there’s a clip posted to Twitter that shows him greeting the Rangers manager.
The Brazilian retweeted the clip and wrote ‘Legend #Respect’ honouring the Rangers boss and former Liverpool midfielder for his fabled playing career in the Premier League.
In his gesture on Sunday, Rodrygo is all of us. That’s something any Gers fan would do had they seen Gerrard.
He’s been an inspirational figure for so many players and was one of the few people to be lauded by rival fans as well.
Gerrard’s been one of the best midfielders of the last generation and was also an inspiring personality in the dressing room.
His leadership skills were one of the main reasons for him getting the job at Rangers, and he’s been a perfect fit for us – helping us rise from the ashes to go unbeaten and win our 55th league title.
Often, former players with glorious careers struggle at managing big teams, but Gerrard’s been unfazed by the job on hand and has got us back to where we belong – the Champions League.
It’s been a long road for us, but the future seems to be bright under the former Liverpool midfielder.
We’ve got to navigate past the Champions League qualifiers, but once that is done we’re confident that we can go on to give a fight to some of the competition’s elite and possibly push for a spot in the last 16.
The sky’s the limit as long as Gerrard is at the helm and we’re hoping to see the good times continue at the Ibrox.
