Graham Roberts: Alfredo Morelos worth £25-30m

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is unlikely to leave for the reported £10million, claims Graham Roberts.

The Colombia international is subject to transfer interest from FC Porto who are understood to be looking to sign him this summer for a paltry £10million fee. [The Scottish Sun]

Roberts believes that the Portuguese outfit are two and a half to three times shy of what Rangers are expected to sell the player at.

Speaking to The Transfer Tavern, the former Gers defender said, “I don’t think he’s definitely staying but they won’t get him for £10 million.

“I think they’d have to go near the £25-30million mark and that might get him, but not £10million.

“He scores goals, so Rangers are not going to give away their main asset on the cheap and I don’t think Porto have £30million.”

We’ve come to terms with the fact that Morelos is probably going to be leaving Ibrox this summer, but what was hard to believe was that only £10million was the rate that was being mentioned in the media.

However, Roberts may be speaking on good authority when he says that it’s going to be close to the £30million mark – which is ideally what we should look to get for him.

Morelos is a versatile attacker that can lead the line centrally or and can play as a wide forward. His intelligence and work ethic often sees him find pockets of space in the final third that leads to Rangers getting chances to find the back of the net.

Replacing a player of his calibre would’ve been harder at £10million, but at £30million we’re confident that we could sign a younger player who could one day be as good if not better than Morelos.

We’ve got the facilities for players with high ceilings to thrive and it’s important we nail the Morelos replacement perfectly or it could have devastating effects in the future.
