Watford have strong interest in Rangers favourite Glen Kamara
Watford have held extensive talks about signing Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper claims that Kamara, 25, is a firm favourite of manager Steven Gerrard and the Gers are reluctant to agree a cheap deal for the Finland international, who cost the £50,000 when he arrived from Dundee in 2019.
It is understood that Watford have not yet made a bid for Kamara.
One of the more confusing parts of the Daily Mail’s story is that they report that Kamara’s contract expires in the next 12 months.
However, the Rangers official website says that when the Finnish midfielder joined the Gers in 2019, he signed a deal that would last until the summer of 2023.
Kamara’s in the last two years of his contract so there’s no need to panic and cash in on the former Arsenal midfielder this year.
However, he is someone who could make us a big profit.
There are a couple of things the Daily Mail have got spot on and that is that Kamara has been in “excellent form” at Ibrox and earned “earned rave reviews” for Finland at the European Championships this summer.
Finland have a shock chance of reaching the last-16 of the Euros, which is far more than what anyone would have expected.
Kamara’s been the driving force in their midfield, as he has been at Ibrox for Gerrard.
Watford are bound to want Kamara – who wouldn’t?
But let’s hope he doesn’t go. We really don’t want to see anyone leave.
In other Rangers news, Alan Brazil has made a ludicrous claim about Celtic and Gers legend Ally McCoist.
