Watford in talks to sign Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara
Watford are in talks to sign Rangers and Finland midfielder Glen Kamara, according to Gianluigi Longari.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Tuesday night, the Sportitalia journalist reported that “ongoing dialogues” are taking place between the Scottish champions and the newly-promoted Premier League club.
However, it is understood that Watford’s number one midfielder target is Lens star Seko Fofana.
Premier League switch on the cards?
It’s a tough one, isn’t it?
Play for Rangers, who have just won the league title without suffering a defeat and qualified for the Champions League, or play for a team just promoted to the Premier League and likely to be in a relegation battle?
If Kamara is going to leave Ibrox this summer then surely he’s going to join a club that’s more established in England’s top-flight than Watford.
No disrespect to the Hornets but Arsenal have been linked with re-signing the Finland international from the Light Blues this summer [Give Me Sport].
Speaking on BBC One’s coverage of Euro 2020 last week, commentator Jonathan Pearce also mooted a move to Brighton for the Gers star.
Brighton would probably be a bit of a better move for Kamara but he’s good enough to play for a team who’s at least established in the mid-table region of the Premier League.
He was the unsung hero for us this season as we won the Premiership title without a defeat and reached the last-16 of the Europa League.
He’s better than Watford.
However, it does look as though Kamara is a player who could leave Ibrox this summer if anyone is sold.
Kris Boyd voiced concerns about the Finnish midfielder’s situation in April [Scottish Sun], saying that his contract situation is a hint he might be off.
In other Rangers news, a Sky Sports journalist alleges he was racially abused after a tweet about the ‘Glasgow derby’.
