Rangers in pursuit of Colombian duo Fabian Angel and Andres Colorado
Rangers director of football Ross Wilson is considering moves to sign Colombian due Fabian Angel and Andres Colorado, according to Vital Rangers.
The Gers news website reports that central midfielder Angel, 20, has “caught the attention of the Rangers scouting department” while playing for Junior FC in Colombia.
It is understood that Cortulua defensive midfielder Colorado, 22, is also attracting attention from Ibrox after he spent the season on loan at Deportivo Cali.
Vital Rangers adds that the two Colombian youngsters have the “capability of making the club an awful lot of money in the future”.
More Colombians the merrier
Let’s hope that Wilson isn’t just trying to keep Rangers’ Colombian quota topped up if Alfredo Morelos leaves because the Gers striker is pretty much invaluable in this squad.
We haven’t seen anything that strongly suggests Morelos will be on the move this summer but signing one or two other Colombian players could be a tactic to help the striker stay happy.
It’s hard to find much information about Angel and Colorado.
Both are young Colombian midfielders while Colorado seems more defensive-minded and can also play in the defence.
Angel is perhaps the more promising of the two.
The Colombia Under-20 international made 18 appearances for FC Junior this season and even played against River Plate in the Copa Libertadores.
If the Gers’ scouts have been blown away by these two players then we’d be more than happy to see them arrive in Glasgow but as they’re young and Colombian, it could be difficult to get work permits sorted unless they have dual citizenship of some kind.
We’ll have to wait and see on that but it’s promising that the Gers are casting their net out wide to welcome new players to Ibrox.
Who knows? Maybe Wilson can uncover a real gem via his scouting team.
