Glen Kamara not keen on Rangers' exit despite links with Leeds United and co
Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara has been linked with the likes of Leeds United with him being in the final two years of his contract.
The Finland international is yet to put pen to paper on an extension, with manager Steven Gerrard desperate to tie him down to a new contract amid fears he could leave Ibrox [TEAMtalk].
Kamara has poured cold water on such thoughts, though, insisting he is not keen on moving elsewhere right now and will always be a Rangers player unless told otherwise.
“I’m a Rangers player until told otherwise,” the holding midfielder told Pallokerho podcast.
“I’m not focused on anything else, I’m happy there, it’s been really good. We just won the league unbeaten and had a good European run, so I’m not really focused on anything else. My focus is on Finland right now.
“The club’s on the up and everyone is looking forward to next season. We want to go and retain that title.”
Good news for Rangers
Kamara putting the rumours to bed himself speaks volumes, and there is no doubt that he sees his future at Ibrox.
The 25-year-old featured in 51 games across all competitions in 2020-21, playing a huge role in leading the Light Blues to the Scottish Premiership title.
Gerrard has publicly revealed that he would love to have Kamara remain with us beyond 2023 [The Sun], and the onus is now on the Rangers board to act accordingly.
Apart from Leeds, the likes of Everton, Arsenal, Burnley, Southampton, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus [The Sun] have also been linked with Kamara, and they and other suitors will be running the rule over him at the European Championships.
The Gers powerhouse will be playing against Belgium, Denmark and Russia in Group B, and will be hoping to impress with Finland.
A good tournament will further increase his number of admirers, and could we regret not reaching an agreement over a new deal with him in the coming weeks?
