Hank Veerman: Joey Veerman likely to leave Heerenveen with Rangers move possible
Heerenveen captain Hank Veerman has insisted that Rangers-linked Joey Veerman leaving the club this summer would be a disaster.
The number nine admitted it would be a “serious problem” for himself in the final third if such a creative player was to jump ship.
Veerman name-dropped Rangers when discussing possible destinations, insisting that he expects the midfielder to have played his final game for the club already.
Speaking via Voetbal Primeur, Veerman suggested that it could be a disaster should his namesake leave the Dutch club this summer.
“Then things change enormously. That is a serious problem for me”, he said.
“I’ve read things about Atalanta Bergamo, Rangers FC, Celtic, PSV, Ajax and AZ. I expect him to go to one of those clubs. I also think that Joey is an added value for every club in the Netherlands.”
Race is on.
We aren’t surprised by this one little bit.
Celtic were miles behind the Gers in the season just gone, and will be looking for any advantage going into the next campaign.
What better way to get ahead than looking at who your nearest rivals could be looking to sign and attempting to hijack that.
Unfortunately for the embarrassing Celtic, they won’t have the Champions League to dangle ahead of any potential signings, something that Steven Gerrard does have.
Veerman has proven himself to be a creative menace in the past year, scoring seven goals and adding 10 assists, and he could be the perfect box-to-box player that we need.
This is our race to win, and we have to move quickly to secure this signature.
