Club chief confirms bids for Rangers-linked Santiago Moreno, demands bigger fee

America de Cali chief Talio Gomez has confirmed that bids have started to arrive for highly-rated Rangers-linked Santiago Moreno.

Football Insider recently reported that both the Bears and Leeds United are tracking the 21-year-old, and would cost up to £5million.

Gomez spoke about a figure around half of that valuation, and did insist that it would way more to twist the arm of the Colombian club.

Speaking on podcast América En La Red, via Glasgow Live, Gomez confirmed that the club wants well more than the £2.6million suggested.

“They (offers) have arrived for Santiago Moreno but he is a jewel,” he said.

“He is 21-years-old and he is growing much more. In two or three years it will be a regular in the Colombian national team.”

Come and get me.

Gomez may be confirming bids, but what he is really trying to do is get clubs spending more than they probably expected.

If the likes of Leeds and Rangers now know that there are numerous clubs interested, they made add one of two figures on the end of their offers.

Moreno is destined for greatness with Colombia, and it would be a real-coup if the Bears could sign a player compared to Sadio Mane.

Alfredo Morelos has legendary status at Ibrox after his move from Finland all those years ago, and that could be used as something to tempt Moreno to do exactly the same.

It could also tempt El Bufalo to stick around regardless of any interest coming his way this summer, this could be a massive win for Steven Gerrard.
