Sky Sports journalist: Rangers boss Steven Gerrard didn't deserve MOTY
Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph is adamant that Rangers boss Steven Gerrard did not deserve to win Manager of the Year for the 2020/21 season.
Gerrard took home the top honour from both the SPFL and the Scottish Football Writers who rewarded him for his 38-game unbeaten campaign with the Gers that saw them crowned Scottish Premiership champions with 102 points.
The Light Blues denied Old Firm rivals Celtic the chance to claim a 10th successive title, but Joseph doesn’t think that should be enough to secure Gerrard the manager prize.
Instead, he believes St Johnstone boss Callum Davidson is a much more deserving recipient after he led the Saints to Scottish Cup success on Saturday afternoon against Hibernian.
Joseph wrote on his personal Twitter profile, “Callum Davidson has just won two major trophies for St Johnstone in the same season, in his first year as a manager.
“Incredible achievement. The first time a club has done this outside of Celtic and Rangers for 30-plus years.
“He won’t care but he’s been robbed of the MOTY award!”

Football is all about opinions and different perspectives, so wanting Davidson to win the manager awards is absolutely fine.
But to say he was robbed by Gerrard? That’s taking it to the extreme.
How can someone who denied Celtic their 10th title in a row and went the entire league season unbeaten be accused of robbing someone of Manager of the Year?
Davidson deserves enormous credit for his work at the Saints and he is well worthy of being in the running for top awards.
But Gerrard hasn’t robbed anyone.
He has been an inspirational figure for Rangers and he helped to consign Celtic to the scrapheap this season, winning four of the five Old Firm clashes and drawing the other one.
Gerrard is a more than deserving Manager of the Year winner.
