Stephen Craigan blown away by 'Sensational' Glenn Middleton at Hampden

Stephen Craigan was left blown away by the performance of Rangers loanee Glenn Middleton for St Johnstone on Sunday afternoon.

The winger came off the bench to both score and assist as he fired his temporary club into the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park.

Craigan was thrilled as Middleton fired home the perfect free-kick to seal the win, and labelled his impact performance as “sensational.”

Speaking on Premier Sports during the semi-final, Craigan was blown away by Middleton as he sealed the victory and a passage to the final.

“Oh my word,” he said. “That is absolutely sensational.

“The pace on the ball, the movement, the dip, it’s absolutely top class. Glenn Middleton, what an impact sub, that’s the way to repay the faith in your manager.”

St Johnstone had to knock us out of the Scottish Cup without Middleton in the previous round, but it was him they had to rely on in the semi-final.

Coming on for the final 25 minutes, he played the game of his life to single-handily book another trip to Hampden for Callum Davidson’s men.

Middleton has fired the perfect message to Steven Gerrard at the same time too, proving that he has what it takes to perform at the highest level.

Greg Stewart has been named on the bench frequently this season but hasn’t been given that chance, and that could leave a huge opening for the likes of Middleton.

Based on this absolute masterclass, we could do much worst than hand him a chance at Ibrox next season as an impact substitute.
