John Hartson radio rant makes for delightful reading for Rangers fans
John Hartson’s pain is clear for all Rangers fans to see with the former Celtic striker going on a rant about his old club’s woeful Premiership season.
Steven Gerrard has led the Gers to their 55th league title this term, destroying Celtic’s dreams of an unprecedented 10th league win in a row.
While there’s no denying that Rangers deserve the title with Gerrard’s men in sensational form almost all season, the meltdown that has unfolded in Parkhead has been spectacular to witness.
Ex-Bhoys striker Hartson has let loose at the Premiership runners-up in a rant where you can sense the pain in his words just by reading the quotes.
“When Celtic came back from Dubai they had the games against Livingston and gave away a lazy last-minute penalty against Hibs. This has been going on and we can’t keep making excuses.
“It’s been dire it really has.
“I just think as a group it’s all gone wrong. You can blame individuals, you can blame managers, you can blame systems, but this season Rangers have been better this season.
“They have had a desire about them and a real reason to go and try and win that league.
“We had a previous caller talking about momentum; Rangers might dominate for the next three to five years.
“They might do now what Celtic had previously done.
“They have a manager who was allowed to bring his staff in, they have an assistant manager who is technically very good, but Celtic look so far behind now, there is so much to do there.”
Hartson is absolutely greeting in his rant about the Bhoys and it’s a delight to read.
But will we be treated to the same next year?
Lap it up Rangers fans because it might be a while before we see such a beautiful meltdown as this.
While we expect the Light Blues to mount a strong challenge to defend their title next term, there’s no way Celtic fan be worse than what they have been this time around.
We struggle to believe that the Parkhead club can be so negligent yet again after a season embroiled in woeful performances on the pitch, woeful errors of judgement off the pitch and woeful behaviour by their fans.
We relish the challenge though.
It’s been way too easy this season and while that’s fine for one year, we want them to at least push us a little bit more in the bid for the title.
That being said, we won’t complain if we absolutely coast our way to title number 56 but for the sake of competition, we wouldn’t mind if they weren’t as dire.
In other Rangers news, this new commercial deal at Ibrox could be outlawed by the government before the end of the year.
