Lazio sporting director Igli Tare is obsessed with Rangers star Ianis Hagi and wants to sign him in the summer, according to La Lazio Sia Monoi.
The Italian news website, which has 17,000 Twitter followers, claims Tare is interested in signing Franck Ribery and Xherdan Shaqiri in the next transfer window while Ibrox ace Hagi, 22, is also of interest to the Serie A club’s chief.
Hagi has been ever-present for the Light Blues this season, appearing 42 times in all competitions, scoring seven goals and supplying 12 assists.
Hands off, Lazio
Hagi is someone who’s divided opinion among Rangers fans since he first arrived at Ibrox over a year ago.
Steven Gerrard hasn’t exactly helped the Romania international by playing him out wide more often than in his preferred central role but it would be fair to say that he’s certainly gotten used to that as the games have passed.
Even Ibrox legend Ally McCoist has had doubts about Hagi in the past but, as quoted by the Scottish Sun, the ex-Genk ace is “extremely gifted” technically.
He’s shown that at Ibrox too.
According to stats by Wyscout, he ranks seventh in the Scottish Premiership for key passes per 90 minutes [0.77] and second for smart passes per full game [1.87].
Lazio are pushing for a spot in next season’s Champions League in Serie A and while some fans may have doubts about Hagi’s ability to shine in the Premiership due to the physical side of the game, the proof has been in the pudding as of late.
He’s definitely more than capable of shining here.
