Steven Pressley predicts Rangers will beat St Johnstone and continue on their march towards an unbeaten Premiership season on Wednesday night.
Steven Gerrard and his men travel to McDiarmid Park in midweek as part of a doubleheader against the Saints which sees Callum Davidson’s side welcome to Ibrox on Sunday for the Scottish Cup semi-finals.
While the Gers don’t have anything to play for in the league in terms of position, they’ll be wanted to preserve their unbeaten streak and lay down a psychological marker ahead of the cup game this weekend.
As shown on BBC Sport’s website, ex-Rangers and Hearts man Pressley predicts a 2-1 win for the Light Blues while BBC Scotland’s The Nine presenter Amy Irons predicts a 2-0 victory for the Premiership champions.
Pressley’s prediction is probably done out of the fact that our performances haven’t been as strong in the league lately.
While we’re still unbeaten and have won five of the last six Premiership matches, it would be fair to say that overall performances have dipped.
The Gers are conceding more goals than usual and not scoring as many. St Johnstone, on the other hand, have had a mixed bag of results that has ranged from beating Hibernian and losing to Aberdeen in recent weeks.
Davidson’s side are still in decent form when all things are considered and they’ll want to put a dent in our season.
We have a target on our backs now going into every remaining game. Every team wants to ruin our hopes of an invincible season.
Gerrard and his players must be prepared for that but there is extra motivation on Wednesday with St Johnstone also up next in the cup on Sunday.
In other Rangers news, the Gers have confirmed a new major shareholder in a big financial update.
